Six Â鶹¹ÙÍø instructors earned the Distinguished Instructor Award for the 2015-2016 school year for their efforts in the classroom.
The winners are:
Jo Harrington, Math Instructor at the Â鶹¹ÙÍø County campus
Crystal E. Buck, Music, Theatre and Film, German and English as a Second Language Instructor at the Fort Leavenworth campus
Callie Hansen, Psychology Instructor at the Fort Riley campus
Rose Smith, Certified Nurse Aide Instructor at the Â鶹¹ÙÍø County Campus
Alissa A. Duncan, Communications, Theatre and History Instructor at the Fort Riley Campus
Kathryn Boeger, Instructor and Coordinator of Business and Accounting at the Â鶹¹ÙÍø County Campus
The Distinguished Instructor Award for full-time faculty was created in 1984 to recognize teaching excellence. Faculty members are nominated by their peers and then evaluated by a committee including Â鶹¹ÙÍø students, a previous Distinguished Instructor Award recipient, members of the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Foundation, Board of Trustees and community members. The committee considers each instructor’s contributions to teaching and learning, the college mission and the community.
In 2003, the President’s staff recognized the many contributions of Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s associate faculty members by establishing the Distinguished Instructor Award for associate faculty as well.
A plaque reflecting the names of the award recipients is displayed in Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s Office of Instruction and Student Services.
