Barton will host its eighth annual Sidewalk Art Contest May 4-6 on the sidewalk outside the Shafer Art Gallery.
The contest is open to all residents of Â鶹¹ÙÍø County.Ìý Artists wishing to participate need to register and pick up their free chalk at the Shafer Gallery between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on any of the three days.Ìý Artists must have their work completed by 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 6.
The contest will be judged by Â鶹¹ÙÍø art instructors. The pieces can be done by individuals or by several artists on a team. Prizes to be awarded are three $100 gift certificates.Ìý The winning entrant will be able to choose between a Great Bend Chamber of Commerce or Â鶹¹ÙÍø Bookstore gift certificate.Ìý If a team wins, its members will split the award.
“It involves people in the whole county, and they're able to come participate in an artistic endeavor,†Â鶹¹ÙÍø Art Instructor Steve Dudek said.Ìý “The contest shows the creative side of a lot of different people.â€
