Barton invites incoming sixth through eighth graders to explore hands-on activities through its summer camp series.
The series includes two Cyber Camps, STEM Forensics Camp, Cougar Stage Camp, and Healthcare Discovery Camp. Each camp is designed to give students hands-on learning opportunities in high-interest careers and academic areas. All camps include lunch.
Cyber Camp
Two Cyber Camps will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 27-28 or June 10-11 in the Technical Building. The free camp will introduce students to cybersecurity through hands-on activities such as coding, decoding, and beginner-friendly challenges that build digital problem-solving skills. Enrollment is limited to 20 students per session, and is sponsored by SoftWarfare and Enterprise KC.
STEM Forensics Camp
STEM Forensics Camp will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 8-9 in the Science and Math Building. Students will explore criminal forensics, build critical thinking skills, and solve mock crime scenes through hands-on investigations led by industry experts and educators. The cost is $35, and enrollment is limited to 24 students.
Cougar Stage Camp
Cougar Stage Camp will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 15-18 in the Fine Arts Building. Students will work with Â鶹¹ÙÍø Theatre students and faculty to create, rehearse, and perform an original one-act play while learning about acting, directing, and set design. The cost is $50, and enrollment is limited to 10 students.
Healthcare Discovery Camp
Healthcare Discovery Camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 23-24 in the Technical Building. The camp will introduce students to healthcare careers, such as nursing, emergency medical services, and lab science, through hands-on activities designed to build confidence and spark curiosity about the future. The cost is $35, and enrollment is limited to 20 students.
Barton Dean of Â鶹¹ÙÍø Stephanie Joiner said the camps are designed to help younger students explore future academic and career pathways while gaining practical skills in a fun and supportive environment.
“Summer camps are a great way to discover new interests, build confidence, and experience Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s hands-on approach to learning,†she said. “Whether a student is interested in technology, science, theatre, or healthcare, there is something in this series that can help spark their curiosity and excitement for the future.
