A wide range of local artists’ work will be on display at the Shafer Gallery as part of the Â鶹¹ÙÍø County Arts Council Friends and Acquaintances Art Festival from Sept. 29-Nov. 4. An opening night reception at 6 p.m. Sept. 29. The show is underwritten by the Bill J. McKown Memorial Endowment distributed by the Golden Belt Foundation.

Former Â鶹¹ÙÍø student Lindsey Rojas took first place at the Great Plains Students’ Psychology Convention at Fort Hays State University (FHSU) in the spring semester of 2017.
Rojas began taking classes at Â鶹¹ÙÍø in 2011, graduating in 2013 with an associate in science before transferring to Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU).

Barton will offer transitioning Fort Sill Soldiers a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to participants.
The Hazardous Waste Worker (HWW) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends. The next course is set from Oct. 16-27.

A ÌýWorkers’ Compensation Symposium hosted by WorkFit, is set for 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sept. 26 in the Plaza De Cavanaugh Room (L116) in the Learning Resource Center at Â鶹¹ÙÍø. Barton’s administration has aligned with the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) and the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees in support of continuing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program through the legislative process.
The Â鶹¹ÙÍø administration agrees with the ACCT’s statement that, “Terminating DACA undercuts our efforts to serve this population by creating additional barriers to postsecondary access.â€

Barton’s ninth-annual Wounded Warrior Golf Scramble, which benefits wounded soldiers from Fort Riley, is set for Saturday, Sept. 23. The deadline to register is Sept. 15.
The Wounded Warrior Golf Scramble is an opportunity to support our Soldiers and thank them for their dedicated service to our country.
Shotgun start is set for 9:30 a.m. at the Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Junction City. Standard four-man golf scramble rules apply.

The proceeds from items sold, underwriters, program ads and ticket sales netted $40,000 at the 39th Annual Big Benefit Auction in late August. These funds benefit students directly through scholarships and program enhancements at Â鶹¹ÙÍø.
